1815 Central Ave NW
In business since 1942, Duran Central Pharmacy is one of the oldest commercial establishments in Albuquerque. The original owner of the drugstore was Pete Duran, a graduate of Notre Dame and the Colorado School of Pharmacy.
The pharmacy has grown over the years, it now includes a large gift shop filled with local artists, a small restaurant, serving fantastic New Mexican food and is famous world wide for its red and green chile. When visitors ask, "where to the locals go to eat?" This is where we go for warm, freshly made tortillas and a great New Mexican food.
The heart of Duran's will always be the pharmacy with pharmacists who genuinely care about how your medications are affecting you, and they will deliver in a pinch. We've gone through cancer together, five surgeries, and countless medications. They patiently answer my questions and make suggestions on what to ask my doctors.
It's a joy to have Duran's carry my candles, it's like coming home.
HOME AT THE RANGE GIFT SHOP
The Range Cafe
925 Camino Del Pueblo
The Range Café is an Albuquerque landmark, but the original Range Café was started in 1992 by Tom Fenton and Matt DiGregory in Bernalillo, New Mexico. When the original building was destroyed by fire, it reopened in its current location and has been serving up “ordinary food done extraordinarily well” ever since.
The original location in Bernalillo also features Home at The Range Gift Shop filled with local artists. I always bring out-of-owners who come to visit - who can resist their blue corn pancakes with pinon nuts? You can order turkey, mashed potatoes with green chile gravy and stuffing every day of the year. Bring your appetite because is everything is yum!
